Atkins Diet Recipe: Low Carb Slow Cooked Grilled Ribs

** Recipe included in my new low carb, gluten free cookbook, Low Carbing Among Friends. Please check it out at our website @ www.amongfriends.us ** In partnership with FaveDiets ( http ) recipe site, one of my fellow recipe vloggers and friends, SmokeyGoodness, (www.youtube.com asked me for my recipe for the ribs I made last weekend. It just so happened that St. Louis-style ribs again were on special for an awesome $1.59 per pound at my local grocer. I was happy enough to oblige him with this video. In an era of nearly $4/lb bacon, ribs are a fantastic deal and serve as great way to continue the grilling season. I prefer the slow cook method to grilling ribs and chose to use the oven instead of the grill or smoker (which I don't have) simply to preserve my propane supply as long as possible. SmokeyGoodness used his charcoal grill in his 4-Flip Ribs (bit.ly for that purpose. I'll fully admit that is a better solution, but I don't have a charcoal option currently. A couple final notes: * in between takes, I helped out at the annual Fall Festival for the Fire Department, which led to the change of shirts. * The sauce on top of the ribs is a low carb BBQ sauce from Heinz. It's called "Light Original" and is roughly 2g for the amount on each rib serving. *Join the Facebook page - www.facebook.com * My Low Carb Blog - www.atkinsdietgeek.com -=Low Carb Rib Rub=- Ingredients 3/4 cup Granulated Splenda 1/2 cup Chili powder 1/2 cup Salt 1/4 cup garlic powder 2 TBS Onion Powder 1 ...

Atkins Diet Recipes: Low Carb Flax Bread (IF)

** Recipe included in my new low carb, gluten free cookbook, Low Carbing Among Friends. Please check it out at our website @ www.amongfriends.us ** One of the questions I get quite often is how do you give up bread on the Atkins Diet, and my point is you don't have have to. I learned this bread from Book, my Atkins Diet Drill Sergeant about 4 years ago. It is perhaps more English Muffin than bread or bun tasting, but it is good tasting. It's tastes like a course ground wheat muffin, perfect for a sausage or egg. *Join the Facebook page - http My Low Carb Blog - www.atkinsdietgeek.com Book's Flax Bread 1 TBS Butter 1 Large Egg 2 TBS Flax Meal (Golden Flax if possible) 1/2 tsp Baking Powder Calories: 105 Calories, 9.75g Fat, 2.4g Carbs (2g Fiber), 4g Protein Note: I have started posting collab videos for the FitnessManswers Channel. Atkins Diet Misconceptions: Low Carb and Diabetes (Part 2)

This video is the second half of the Atkins Diet Misconception: Diabetes series. If you have not seen Part 1, please watch it here: www.youtube.com The last video dealt with case damning the existing treatment or recommendations to follow a high carb diet managed with ever increasing doses of insulin. This video deals with the evidence for rather managing it with a low carb lifestyle. There are two great studies for advocating this method. 1:) Dietary carbohydrate restriction in type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome: time for a critical appraisal Nutrition and Metabolism(Lond) 2008; 5: 9. Numerous authors including Richard Bertstein, Mary Vernon, Jeff Volek, Eric Westman www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov Conducted Multi-center trial in which 63 obese men and women were randomly assigned to either diet, 21 Low Carb, 21 Control, 21 High Carb for a one year study. This discussion focuses on type 2 diabetes but many of the principles will apply to metabolic syndrome and possibly to type 1 as well[6,7]. 1. Carbohydrate restriction improves glycemic control, the primary target of nutritional therapy and reduces insulin fluctuations. 2. Carbohydrate-restricted diets are at least as effective for weight loss as low-fat diets. 3. Substitution of fat for carbohydrate is generally beneficial for markers for and incidence of CVD. 4. Carbohydrate restriction improves the features of metabolic syndrome. An important idea guiding current medical thinking is that clustering of ...

Atkins Diet: Do we aloof appetite our old lives back?

This video is a response to the low carb critics (180degreehealth.blogspot.com who insist our low carb decisions just cover up our desire / cravings to return to our old high carb lifestyle. Collden: "Why then is "Sweet treats" the food category with the single most popular sub forum on the Low Carber Recipe forums? I was a low carber myself for 8 months and know that it did absolutely nothing to tone down the addictive quality of sugar. My experience is like madMUUUHs, low carb put my sugar cravings to sleep in everyday situations, only to come back with an outrageous vengeance whenever I did permit myself some sweets." My recipe videos demonstrate what I think are interesting to watch as well as eat. Steak or chicken fajita salads might be awesome low carb meals to eat. They would be dull to watch me make in a video. Many of these savory things are often simpler to make with only one or two ingredients. The dessert recipes are typically more ingenious and more unique items. My intention behind the recipe videos has never been to capture what my diet looks like, but what options are open to those on a low carb lifestyle. As for wanting my old life or comfort foods back, I personally do not want it back. There is no part of my body that thinks candy bars would be a great addition to my life or that I should return back to a frozen pizza fiend. Krispy Kremes (even fresh from the fryer) in comparison to Buffalo Wings just is no choice.

***Join the Atkins Diet Video Facebook fan page -bit.ly & My Low Carb Blog - www.atkinsdietgeek.com *** In partnership with FaveDiets ( http ) recipe site, this recipe was tweaked from another recipe used by permission developed by Jennifer Eloff. (low-carb-news.blogspot.com I bumped up the cream cheese (or actually neufchatel cheese) content and altered the crust slightly to my favored nut crust. I really like this recipe if you have company, and want to set some bars out for people to eat with their hands. The butter in the filling helps hold the cheesecake like a bar as opposed to how cheesecake typically feels. If you do wish it to be Induction friendly, you can drop the fruit and the crust from the recipe, but of my reading of DANDR, the crust (sans whey protein) should be legal for those after the first 14-day Induction period. Here is the recipe as I made it: Topping: * 12 oz Neufchatel cream cheese, softened * 1 egg * ½ cup sour cream * ½ cup SPLENDA® Granular * 2 tbsp unsalted butter * 1 tsp vanilla extract * 1/2 cup canned fruit cocktai, strawberries, or blueberries I bumped up the cream cheese a bit more to make the bars a bit bigger and a bit more like cheesecake. Atkins Diet Recipes: Low Carb Faux Fried "Rice" (IF)

** Recipe included in my new low carb, gluten free cookbook, Low Carbing Among Friends. Please check it out at our website @ www.amongfriends.us ** In this Induction-friendly recipe video, I demonstrate one of the most versatile side dishes or main dishes on the Low Carb lifestyle. From Chinese main meal or accompaniment to an Italian replacement for pasta, this faux rice recipe is versatile to say the least. Note for the Italian alternative, I would eliminate the Chinese flavorings (Soy Sauce, meat, sesame oil, and egg) in favor of more garlic and Italian seasoning and spices. Atkins Diet: Is Eating Out accessible while on low carb?

Is eating out at restaurants possible on Atkins Diet or while low carbing? I certainly go out to eat a few times each week and can say conclusively there are a number of options for low carb'ers when eating out. The most important thing is to not be shy with servers about questions about the menu or in asking for substitutions. Here are some of my favorites: * Buffets - go to high quality, and stay away from anything breaded, sauced, or full of non-legal ingredients * Salad Bars / Deli's - nothing better than a fresh vegetable deli - watch for high carb dressings or highly processed deli meats * Brazilian Steak Houses - stay away from the bean dishes or the potato-filled side dishes * Mongolian Grills - caution on the sauce - research before hand; oils, garlic, and spices should be fine * Mexican - fajitas without the beans, rice, or tortillas - yum! * Wings Places -- ask if the wings are naked or breaded * American / Steakhouses / Burgers - just simply exchange high carb sides for vegetables, and ask for no bun * Fast Food - get a high quality salad or simply ask for a burger / grilled chicken without the bun These are just some of the options. It would be hard to find a restaurant without any possible options for the low carber to partake. You might have to ask a few questions than other diners, and be sure to tip well and patronize those places which go out of their way to accommodate you.

As Dr. Atkins Diet Works Plan

The Atkins diet plan is one of the most popular methods of weight loss in use today. His approach to weight loss is different than many other weight loss programs because it is a change of lifestyle, not just a change in food. Unlike other lifestyle changes, however, is the Atkins diet plan of foods you love, so that the necessary changes easier than you might think.

What is the Dr. Atkins diet plan?

The plan works by reducing the amountbeginning of carbohydrates in the diet, which in turn calls to burn body fat as primary fuel. One approach is to eat the food, which stresses, tasty, spicy and have a large variety. Not hungry, right foods to eat only the plan, as permitted low-carb.

Phase 1 - Induction

The induction phase is designed to "jump start" your weight loss, mainly by limiting carbohydrates to 14 days. The idea is to take theConverted to fat burning metabolism. During the induction phase of "Dr. Atkins diet plan six) allows up to 20 grams of net carbs per day (defined as the grams of total carbohydrate less grams of fiber, especially in front of a green salad and other vegetables that have little strength.

The induction rules are very specific and must be followed exactly for the work process. It may seriously and for the first few days can be difficult to stay with them, but if yourBody begins to adapt to it is much easier. It also helps to remember that lasts only 14 days after induction that allowed you are carbohydrates, increase gradually.

rules of induction are:

regular meals and three or four small meals a day fifty-six

or should not be more than six hours (waking) to eat, without

No fruit or vegetables, bread, cereals, pasta and starchy

o No Dairy products, except cheese, cream or butter

nuts or not,Seeds

No chick peas or beans or other legumes

o Do not eat anything that does not allow food in the list - not a single bite!

o Reduce or avoid caffeine as much as possible

O Drink at least eight ounces of water 8 glasses per day

The results of the induction are usually quite dramatic, as long as you follow the rules exactly. It 's a great way for you to make a low-carb lifestyle and enjoy immediate, visibleSuccess.

Remember - Do not eat food during the induction phase, which is not on the list of permitted foods. Otherwise, only slow or stop your progress through the induction process and may even sabotage your efforts to the point where weight loss stops completely. If you are using induction, seeking sources of support by connecting with other followers of staff Dr. Atkins diet plan through websites, online forums, or community support groups for help.

Step 2 - Ongoing Weight Loss

The second phase of Dr. Atkins diet plan is known as the loss of current weight. Phase of your diet a bit 'to increase in this, and you can increase your steps, receiving net carbs per week of five grams per day.

This means that, after induction upon you more variety to your diet as long as you do so gradually you notice how your body reacts. Gradually slow your weight loss as you increase your networkCarbohydrates increase slows down the metabolism of carbohydrates and depend on your body's natural resistance.

Everyone has a different level of carbohydrates, which can eat and maintain her weight. Above this value, the weight begins to rise, while below that level weight starts to fall again. In the current weight loss, gradually increase as the intake of carbohydrates is necessary to keep track of how many net carbs you are consuming and note what your level of levels of weight loss. You will then not know at this level for the rest of the weight loss.

Step 3 - Pre-Maintenance

Once you are within nine 55 pounds of your goal weight, losing weight can transfer to the pre-maintenance of 'Dr. Atkins diet plan where you increase your net carbs larger increments each week until the plane stops.

Pre-maintenance is a bit 'of practice for the rest of your low> Carb Life. Continue adding steps and carbohydrates, then your weight loss feels carbohydrates based record-keeping for life. Tempting as it may be, and go directly to the next stage, it is important to examine carefully the continuation of the pre to be fully prepared for the lifestyle to go ahead with a low-carb.

Phase 4 - Lifetime Maintenance

This phase of Dr. Atkins diet plan is justwhat the name implies - a program of eating that will keep your ideal weight for life. If you have a habit of being able to automatically build your maintenance level of carbohydrate and low-carb eating and become the're in good shape, both literally and figuratively.

Living Low Carb is now just a natural part of everyday life, but this does not mean that occasionally indulge in a cookie in addition, a sliceBirthday cake or other foods rich in carbohydrates. This means that if you take normal in a higher carbohydrate level than simply sacrificing for the next few days, your body balance.

Food choices at each stage

Choosing the right foods is critical to the success of each phase of the Dr. Atkins diet ', especially during induction. It helps to keep a small notebook with a list of permitted foods in each phase, and also writeNumber of net carbs you consume per day. A good carb counter is a big help, too, so you can see at a glance the level of net carbs in various foods.
